Look, we all know it is important to take care of our skin at this point. If you read this blog on the regular, you know this is something we talk about a lot! We must not forget that our skin is an organ, just like our heart or lungs. Organs are essential parts of our body, and we wouldn’t let our heart go untreated if something was wrong, right? So, why is our skin any different?!

Anyways, skincare can be simple and efficient when done right with a little bit of knowledge and high quality products. That being said, there are a few ways to improve your skincare routine by learning which products to not mix with one another. Some ingredient mixing can cause skin issues and allergic reactions that result in skin looking less than brilliant. If you feel like you’re doing it all right, but the skin just isn’t reflecting that, it could be a result of improper mixing.

For example, Retinol is a huge ingredient in the skincare world. It is recommended all the time for anti-aging and preventative skin treatments to keep a youthful glow. However, it can also be a huge skin irritant that should only be mixed with moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and ceramides. It should never be mixed with vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, or AHA/BHA acids that can cause dried out skin and irritation!

Vitamin C is a great skin protectant that brightens the skin and can even out skin tone. It should be mixed with antioxidants for full effect and SPF to safely brighten the skin without inducing sun damage. However, once again, it should not be mixed with retinol!skincare product

Lastly, we have Niacinamide (aka vitamin B3). This is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory that can also brighten skin and even discoloration. It is an ingredient that can be mixed with most any other ingredient in the skincare routine, proving to help results in your overall skin glow. However, it should not be mixed with vitamin C! Even though they are both antioxidants, they just aren’t compatible and will essentially cancel one another out. This means your benefits cannot be reaped and your skin will suffer!

Well, that’s all for today! These are three of the most common ingredients in skincare products, and with proper mixing and avoidance, your skin can be well-improved from these tips. So, be sure to check those labels on your products!
