When you want to do a self-care day, chances are a really lovely, involved skincare routine is in the works. I mean, why not treat yourself to a good, relaxing day of skincare when you have the chance! That being said, it is definitely the perfect opportunity to do a face mask!

Now, there are so many different types of face masks that it can be hard to decide and figure out which one will make your skin glow the most. Let’s talk about it.

There are seven different categories to common face masks:

  1. Sheet masks
  2. Clay (or mud) masks
  3. Cream masks
  4. Peel-off masks
  5. Gel masks
  6. Sleep masks

Sheet masks are becoming extremely popular because of their incredible qualities and benefits. They have been a staple in South Korea for years, and if you have ever seen any Korean beauty gurus or anything like that… you know their skin is simply flawless. Sheet masks are super versatile too, and they have benefits for all skin types.

Clay or mud masks are good for oily skin types, absorbing the extra moisture and toxins—removing them from the skin. Cream masks, on the other hand, are best fit for dry skin looking for a hydration boost.

Peel-off masks are good for absorbing toxins (that lead to acne and unrefined pores) just like clay, but they are a little more focused on exfoliation for all types.

Gel masks are made for dehydrated and sensitive skin that are meant to ease and soothe irritated skin that needs a break!

Lastly, charcoal masks! They can be found overlapping in other categories like sheet, cream, and mud masks. Activated charcoal is the common ingredient here and they are great for detoxifying skin and definitely a great way to combat oily skin and acne.
