We’re back it folks, and we’re giving out all the deets on all the skin trends. Ooh, that was kind of a fun little phrase “skin trends.” No? Maybe not. We’ll come back to that later.

Anyways, I am sure you’ve been hearing about and seeing retinol products in all the stores, ads, magazines, social media… and everything else! It is usually advertised as a way to refine, resurface, and smooth the skin. It can help prevent wrinkles, even out skintones and texture, and stimulate skin cell turnover. Sounds like a dream, right? However, perhaps it is a little too good to be true…

I am here to clear some of that confusion up!

As with most things, we have to make sure what we choose is high quality, and good for our skin. There are many products out there that just will not do the job. Many of these “retinoid” products aren’t as pure and good as they say they are, and many will be a combination of products we do not want on our skin!

So, first and foremost, how do we choose and find a really good retinol product. You’re going to want to look for a 0.3% Pure Retinol Serum. It is the highest recommended anti-aging ingredient, according to dermatologists. As previously mentioned, many of these products that contain retinol aren’t necessarily what they seem. You need to make sure that the products you’re using are this 0.3% pure retinol because if it doesn’t, we’re in a little bit of trouble. It’s not as if you’ll do something horrible to your skin, but you will more than likely not see a lot (if any) results. The pure retinol serum in certain skincare products are specifically made and patented for stable and good results, so why differ? However, one thing to note is that when using retinoids, you should make sure you’re wearing sunscreen because it can increase sensitivity to the sun.

However, you should definitely already be wearing sunscreen *cough cough*.
